Cambodia Gambling Halls
May 29th, 2019 by Giovani

There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which casino gambling is banned. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are allegedly required to pass, there are methods around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling hall, contains 150 slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel compound that contains numerous comforts aside from the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight table games.
